It is designed based on the original but includes an adjustable tension feature. By gently pressing on the bar spacing with your finger, you can adjust the tightness.
It is designed to seamlessly accommodate a UV or protective filter. The K&F brand and other variable ND filters do not fit. However, B+W, Kenko Pro and other major brands should fit properly.
